Amsterdam Airport Transfer: What to Expect at Schiphol

Schiphol is about 17 km southwest of Amsterdam city centre. The drive usually takes 20 to 35 minutes, or up to about 45 minutes in morning and late-afternoon rush hours.

One terminal, one meeting point. Schiphol has a single terminal, and all arrivals lead into Schiphol Plaza, the central hall. With meet-and-greet, your chauffeur waits at the meeting point in Schiphol Plaza with a name board, takes your luggage trolley and walks you to the vehicle.

Immigration varies. Flights from within the Schengen area have no passport control. For flights from outside Schengen, queues can reach 20 to 40 minutes when several long-haul flights land in the early morning. We track your flight and time your pickup to when you actually reach arrivals, with no extra charge for delays.

A fixed price, not a meter. Dutch taxis run on a meter, so the fare depends on traffic. Every Amsterdam airport transfer we provide is a fixed price per vehicle, confirmed before you fly.

River and ocean cruises leave from Passenger Terminal Amsterdam, close to the city centre, and some larger ships use IJmuiden on the coast or Rotterdam. Tell us your ship and terminal when you book. We schedule your pickup around disembarkation and offer direct transfers to Schiphol, your hotel or onward to Rotterdam.

Keukenhof, Zaanse Schans and Day Trips

In spring, the Keukenhof gardens and the surrounding tulip fields draw large crowds. Keukenhof is about 30 minutes from Schiphol. Private flights at Schiphol use the General Aviation Terminal on Thermiekstraat, separate from the main terminal, with handlers including Jet Aviation and AviaVIP and customs and immigration on site. There’s no arrivals hall or taxi rank there, so a pre-arranged car is essential.
